Rusty Nail by Stefan Giers

I found this fantastic structure on a corten steel blog...111 tons of it! Its built to a triangular plan and around 30 metres high. Criss crossing stair cases lead to a viewing platform at the top where users can see the lakes of the former opencast mining. i think the use of corten is a nod to the industrial landscape that used to make up the surrounding area. Found by Lake Sedlitz. photos are from a fantastic blog on Coalscapes found here: http://coalscapes.com/design/#.US_uQutGwU8
